Why green hydrogen ?
1Clean Energy Production
1.Green hydrogen is produced through electrolysis using renewable energy sources like solar and wind power.
2.It's a clean energy source with zero greenhouse gas emissions.
2Versatile Applications
1.Power generation: Used in fuel cells or gas turbines for electricity production.
2.Transportation: Fuels fuel cell electric vehicles, emitting only water vapor.
3.Industrial processes: Powers processes like steel and cement production, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
3Global Transition
1.Essential for transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
2.Complements other renewable sources like solar and wind power.
4International Initiatives
1.European Clean Hydrogen Alliance
2.International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy
2.APEC Energy Working Group
5Morocco's Potential
1.Abundant renewable energy resources.
2.Strategic geographic location.
2.Commitment to decarbonization.
Green hydrogen has gained significant international attention as a potential key player in the transition to a low-carbon economy. Countries around the world are exploring the production, storage, and application of green hydrogen as a clean energy source. International collaborations and initiatives have been launched to support the development of green hydrogen infrastructure and technology, including the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Energy Working Group. These efforts demonstrate the growing recognition of the potential of green hydrogen to address global energy and climate challenges. Kingdom of Morocco has the potential to become a leader in the production and export of green hydrogen, given its abundant renewable energy resources, strategic geographic location, and commitment to decarbonization. To achieve this potential, Morocco will need to continue to invest in green hydrogen research, development, and deployment, and collaborate with international partners to develop a new technologies and infrastructure for the production, storage, and transportation of green hydrogen.
